OLCC Guidance to Alcohol Licensees, Marijuana Retailers, Retail Agents
Oregon’s Statewide Face Covering Requirement
Starts Wednesday, July 1st
As part of the ongoing effort to protect the public from exposure to the COVID-19 virus, Governor Brown has instituted a statewide requirement that individuals wear a mask, face shield, or face covering when visiting indoor spaces open to the public.
The face covering requirement takes effect Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
The Oregon Health Authority has updated information on the face covering requirement here on the OHA COVID-19 website.
This requirement applies statewide.
This requirement includes OLCC licensees that operate the following types of businesses with indoor spaces open to the public: marijuana retail stores, restaurants, bars, breweries, brewpubs, wineries, tasting rooms, distilleries, retail agents (liquor stores), distillers, as well as off-premises alcohol retailers.
What does this mean for you?
If you’re operating a business covered by the requirement then you, your staff, and your customers are expected to wear a face covering. This can include a mask, face shield, a bandana or some other cloth, paper, or disposable face covering that covers the nose and mouth.
The face covering requirement takes effect Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

Customers & Visitors to Indoor Businesses
- Face coverings are not required when people are eating or drinking in restaurants, bars, breweries, brewpubs, wineries, tasting room and distilleries. Customers of these businesses, with indoor spaces open to the public, are expected to wear face coverings at all other times.
- It is recommended, but not required that children under 12 years old wear a face-covering.
Accommodating Individuals with Medical Conditions
- People with medically related breathing conditions or disabilities that prevent wearing a face covering can request a business to make an accommodation (such as curbside delivery) that must be provided as outlined in the OHA Face Covering Guidance.
